Title:  Transport Manager

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Transport Manager, offering remote working; however, regular travel is required.

HOURS OF WORK:  37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

As Transport Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient management of Business Units commercial fleet vehicles. Working alongside Operational account leads you will ensure ensures all fleet, driver, and transport activities meet UK road transport legislation, and Amey internal standards. The Transport Manager will also lead with all aspects of vehicle management including optimising utilisation, preventing vehicle misuse and ensuring all drivers and vehicles operate legally, safely, and professionally.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage all transport activities in accordance with UK legislation, and Amey policies/procedures.
• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy, taxed, insured, plated, and fitted with required safety equipment
• Maintain accurate event planning: inspections, MOT, services, calibrations, etc.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and accessible data is maintained
• Oversee daily defect reporting, ensuring correct completion of CheckedSafe or equivalent systems
• Immediately escalate and implement Vehicle Off Road (VOR) controls when safety defects are identified
• Lead or support site audits and inspections and implement action plans from audit findings
• Support efficient fuel management, including monitoring consumption, misuse, and security
• Ensure robust driver eligibility checks
• Lead or support audits, inspections and investigations and implement action plans from findings

What you will bring:

Experience

• Experience managing transport compliance in a regulated environment
• Up-to-date knowledge of road transport legislation
• Understanding of vehicle maintenance
• Experience using fleet and compliance systems
• Full, clean UK driving licence
